Gently turn the mouthpiece and blow the balloon up. The air stays in the balloon, and the multicoloured LED light starts flashing - making the whole balloon come alive. It flashes in several colours, so it really doesn't matter what colour the balloon itself is.  

Batteries are included and are easy to replace. It's also easy to replace the balloon.
